Jewelry by Josephine's Founder, Josephine Zummo was born of Italian immigrant parents in New York City. She was raised in a family tradition born of Italian artisans. Josephine's grandmother designed and embroidered textiles and her grandfather was a basket weaver. Josephine's mother Sylvia is an extremely talented artist that has created stunning beaded lampshades and jewelry. The artisan tradition has been passed down through the generations and on to Josephine.
At the age of nineteen Josephine lived in Singapore and traveled to the neighboring countries of Thailand and Malaysia. She was intrigued by the many exotic gems and cultured pearls of Asia. Josephine's travels have also taken her to cities such as Milan, Florence and Rome. Her passion for creating jewelry began in Italy while exploring the artisan jewelry markets. Josephine decided then that one day she would master the art of Italian design.
Over the years Josephine has designed and made jewelry for a select circle of clients. Her designs have so captivated her clientele that she was induced to share her creations.
Today, Josephine resides in Atlanta with her husband Joe and their three children Amanda, Joseph, and Sophie. She spends most days creating jewelry inspired by her loving and supportive family. What began as a pleasurable pastime has developed into a passion for designing and making unique jewelry for fashionable clients.
